AWANA meets Sunday Nights at 6:00 to 7:30 here at Helvetia Community Church.

AWANA stands for
Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. Started in 1950, this program has grown from one church to an international effort aimed at providing a program whereby children can have fun while memorizing and learning their bibles and learning how to live out their faith.
The program at HCC consists of three groups:

The Cubbies group is for pre-school children ages 3 (by Sep 15th) up through 4 years old. They will have fun with a purpose – to reach and train kids for Jesus Christ. Games, puppets, crafts, snacks and awards transform our preschool program into a lively weekly experience where fun and learning go hand in hand.
The Sparks group is for Kindergarten through 2nd grade children. Fun Learning = Results
Sparks club meetings combine learning with fun to create an atmosphere of irresistible excitement for churched and unchurched kids alike. Club meetings are divided into three segments:

l Bible teaching, worship, award presentations and
xxthe gospel message
l Small group interaction and completion of
xxBible-based lessons
l Age-appropriate games on the Awana game circle

Along the way, Sparky, the friendly firefly, and his three friends have many exciting adventures. Sparky encourages kids to learn verses and complete assignments throughout the three handbooks.

The Truth and Training Clubs are for children 3rd through 6th grade. In addition to the fundamentals of the Cubbies and Sparks, the T&T Clubs provide the following experiences:

l Learn and review hundreds of scripture verses
l Study dozens of passages from the Old and New
xxTestament
l Regularly hear and read the gospel message
l Discover the Bible’s response to questions like “How
xxdoes God want me to live my life?”
l Memorized verses to back up these answers
l Complete missions projects that help see the world
xxthrough God’s eyes

These lofty goals are accomplished through fun and competitive games, interactive, high-tech CD based games, awards and recognition, and a whole lot of fun.
